Saturday saw one of the biggest ever pro-Palestine demonstrations in Welsh history.
Over 3,000 people marched from Cardiff City Hall to the Senedd, blocking traffic along the way with chants of Free, Free Palestine.
The march was organised by Cardiff Palestine Solidarity Campaign, the Muslim Council of Wales and others, and was calling for an end to the bombing and siege of Gaza.
The march was joined by Beth Winter, Labour MP for Cynon Valley, who called for an immediate ceasefire.
A protest is also being held in Swansea on Sunday.Protests have been taking off across the world as outrage grows over Israel’s war on Gaza, which has already killed over 1,000 children.
This week over 800 scholars warned that Israel was enacting genocide in the blockaded coastal strip, which houses more than 2million people. Schools, hospitals and entire apartment blocks have been bombed. Even a church being used as a safe haven was hit by an airstrike on Thursday.
The latest assault on the enclave is the most ferocious ever seen, and came after Hamas broke into Israeli territory killing both military personnel and civilians.
In London, between 250,000 and 300,000 marched, making it the biggest anti-war protest since the Iraq war march in 2003, and the biggest ever for Palestine.
Protests in Britain have also been directed at the UK Government’s key role in supporting and supplying weapons to Israel, after Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Natanyahu this week, “We want you to win” – giving carte blanche to commit even more war crimes on civilians in Gaza.
Anger has also been directed at the media, including the BBC, and the Labour leader Keir Starmer. These are some of the photos of Saturday’s march in Cardiff, taken by Ka Long Tung.
