Last night mourners gathered in Cardiff to remember the life of Sabina Nessa and demand an end to gendered violence against women.
Sabina Nessa, 28, had been walking to meet a friend at a pub in Kidbrooke, south east London, on Friday 17th September. on a journey that should have taken just five minutes when she was fatally attacked near Cator Park.
A 38 year old man has been arrested on suspsicion of her murder.
Her murder has sparked a wave of anger against violence against women, and raised questions about the value placed on the lives of Black and Brown women by the British establishment.
Similar vigils took place in solidarity across the UK on Friday.
The vigil in Cardiff was held in Grange Gardens, Grangetown. It was organised by Black Lives Matter Cardiff and Vale and others.
Speakers included Shavanah Taj of Wales TUC, and young women who spoke about their experience of sexual harassment.
